hFrom October 23, 2011 at the Florida Writers Conference’s early morning poetry workshop comes “A Poet’s Last Poem.” Scribbled in block  print (meaning I liked the poem enough back then to decipher my sloppy cursive…), I’ve tweaked this slightly to keep in minimalistic, as I must have intended.

A Poet’s Last Poem

Challenge –
Heft of the pen.
Scratch on the page.
Tear from his life.

Action –
Gnarled fingers – clumsy motion.
Irritations. Limitations.
Next tear from his life.

Completion –
Satisfaction. One final foray.
Success concluded.
One terminal tear to fulfill his life.
