There once lived a boy
Enchanted by evening breezes,
Cicadas, early evening shadows
Thunderstorms of magnificence…

He ruled his world with fancy thoughts.
Derringdo. Maidens rescued.
Tender kisses (yes even that)
Ever-after peace and harmony.

Intergalactic flight gave way to many adventures
Less imagination, more reality
Until on day the boy awoke to a shattered, ugly world.
Spirit crushed, he fell.

Today his head rose up
His spirit tickled the old body
His encasement gave way slightly
To life. To smiles. To appreciation for cool breezes on a summers day

This day lives a boy
Enchanted by beauty and tenderness
Cicadas’ lovely background tunes
And the knowledge he still possesses life and significance in his world…
