Moonshot 1One Night in a Million

That night he knew
He knew life’s poignancy wrapped in destined sadness
He knew love’s gentle kiss wrapped in destined sadness
He knew fate’s diabolical twists wrapped in destined sadness
He knew religion’s sick lies wrapped in destined sadness
He knew passion’s fleeting bravado wrapped in destined sadness
He knew joy’s exhilarating comforts wrapped in destined sadness
He knew pain’s temporal challenges wrapped in destined sadness
He knew ambition’s glitter distractions wrapped in destined sadness
He knew camaraderie’s teasing answers wrapped in destined sadness
He knew hatred’s fire and fury wrapped in destined sadness
He knew regret’s hollow victories wrapped in destined sadness

For all fall.
All walk by the river
Deep, murky water which gives up no dead
Most, little more than splashes of mosquito feet that lend no ripple
Others, who strive for cannonballs achieve little more than a whisper of breath on a glassed sea

When all we see and all we do
Welcomes our thoughts to reality
Those one in a million nights
When clarity clangs her klaxon bell
When we waken from our self-centered life-dream
When we stand naked before mortality
When we stretch our souls to atomic thinness
Simply to find we reach no further than the thought that brought us here

Awareness wrapped in destined sadness envelops our past, present, future…
And we sleep…
And we wake…
A new day….
